Refund & Cancellation Policy
A practical policy for plans that change.
1. Statutory cancellation rights come first
Nothing in this policy limits a right or remedy that applies under Nova Scotia consumer protection law or other applicable law. Certain dance, sport, fitness and similar membership contracts in Nova Scotia include a five-day cooling-off period after the consumer receives a written copy of the contract. Where that statutory right applies to your purchase, you may cancel within the applicable period without giving a reason and receive the refund required by law.
The way a program is described for studio purposes does not remove a statutory right. If you believe a cooling-off period or another mandatory consumer remedy applies, contact us promptly with the purchaser name and booking details so the request can be reviewed under the applicable legal rule.
2. Private lessons and private packages
Outside any mandatory statutory cancellation right, a single private lesson may be cancelled or moved without charge when the studio receives notice at least 24 hours before the scheduled start. If a prepaid single lesson is cancelled with the required notice and you prefer not to reschedule, the payment may be refunded to the original payment method.
For multi-session private packages, unused sessions may be rescheduled within the package validity terms provided at booking. If you request cancellation before the first session and no statutory rule requires a different result, we will refund the unused package amount. After a package has begun, a voluntary refund request for remaining unused sessions is reviewed based on the original package price, sessions already delivered and any non-refundable third-party payment costs disclosed at purchase. We do not add an undisclosed penalty after purchase.
A private session cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, may be treated as used because the instructor and room were reserved for that time. We may waive this treatment in reasonable circumstances, including certain emergencies, at our discretion without creating an obligation to do so in every case.
3. Group courses and scheduled series
For a group series, you may request cancellation before the program begins. Where the request is outside a statutory cooling-off period, the refund amount is determined by the booking terms confirmed before purchase and any costs already incurred specifically for that registration. Once a group series has started, missed participant sessions are normally not individually refundable because the place remains reserved and the program is delivered as a scheduled sequence.
If you know you will miss a class, tell the studio as early as possible. When capacity and curriculum allow, we may offer a make-up option or practice credit, but a make-up class is not guaranteed unless it formed part of the original purchased terms.
4. Cancellations or material changes by the studio
If Les Sons De Notre Humanité Inc. cancels a paid lesson or program session and cannot provide a reasonable replacement, the affected amount will be refunded or credited according to your preference where practicable. If an instructor is substituted or a room changes but the scheduled service can still be provided to a comparable standard, that operational change by itself does not normally create a refund entitlement.
Severe weather, building access issues, utility interruptions or other events beyond reasonable control may require a short-notice change. We will communicate the available rescheduling, credit or refund option based on the circumstances, the purchased service and applicable law.
5. Gift cards
Standard ME-GU gift cards do not expire and do not carry dormancy or inactivity fees. They are intended to be redeemed for eligible studio services and are not redeemable for cash except where required by law. A gift card purchase may still be subject to any mandatory cancellation right that applies to the transaction.
When a gift card is used to purchase a lesson or program, the cancellation terms for that lesson or program apply. Any approved refund for a service originally paid by gift card may be returned to gift card value rather than paid as cash, unless applicable law requires a different method.
6. Online and remote purchases
When a purchase is completed online or through another remote channel, the studio will provide the essential transaction information required for the purchase, including the business identity and contact information, a description of the service, total charges and applicable cancellation or refund terms. You must have an opportunity to review the purchase information before final acceptance.
Rights relating to failure to provide a required contract or failure to deliver purchased goods or services within legally required periods continue to apply where the Nova Scotia rules governing online purchases cover the transaction.
7. Requesting a cancellation, reschedule or refund
Provide the purchaser name, program or lesson, scheduled date and the outcome you are requesting. We may ask for enough information to locate the booking and verify the transaction. Refunds that are approved are returned using the original payment route where reasonably available, subject to payment-provider processing time.
